This Mem review covers an AI notes app that now centers on an agent. Mem, for example, organizes notes without folders and answers questions from them. Its Mem Agent also spots tasks and projects in what you save, then reminds you when something needs attention.

Plans start at $9 a month, and every plan caps messages, notes and tracked tasks. Its privacy policy, moreover, rules out training general AI models on your notes. However, Mem has changed its pricing three times in 2026.

Mem Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?

For people who capture a lot of notes and meetings and want follow-up, it can be. The agent turns notes into tracked tasks, and the data terms are among the clearer ones we have read.

For heavy users, however, the caps add up fast. Pro at $29 allows 100 messages and 100 new notes a month, so busy users may need $49 or more. Our list of the best AI for productivity compares options.

What Mem Does

First, Mem stores notes, meeting transcripts and clipped pages in one workspace, and Deep Search and templates work on every plan. Its chat, moreover, answers questions from your own notes.

Mem Agent then also reviews the notes you create or edit, detects tasks and projects, and checks in through channels such as WhatsApp or email. Voice Mode, in addition, records meetings and turns them into structured notes. Our guide to ChatGPT for productivity covers a rival approach.

What Mem Costs

Mem’s pricing page, read on October 2, 2026, lists seven plans, each capping the same monthly allowances.

A Year of Price Changes

First, Mem relaunched as Mem 2.0 in early 2026 with a flat $12 Pro plan. In July, it added a $99 Proactive tier for the agent. Then, in late August, it replaced both with today’s seven-tier ladder, a pricing tracker reports.

⚠️ Therefore, check the pricing page on the day you subscribe, and prefer monthly billing until the plans settle.

Which Models It Uses

However, Mem does not name its models on its pricing page. A tracker, moreover, notes it removed model selection from its listed features in July 2026. As a result, you cannot choose or compare the model behind its answers. Our list of Notion AI alternatives also ranks six options for answers from your own material.

For named, scored models, our guide to AI benchmarks explained covers the boards we use.

What Independent Evaluations Show

For this Mem review, we found no independent test of its answers or its agent. Its answers, however, draw on your own notes, which makes them easier to check than open web answers.

Still, treat agent reminders as prompts to review, not as a complete task list. Our guide to fact-checking AI output applies to summaries too.

Your Data

Mem’s privacy policy was revised on August 13, 2026. It says Mem does not use your personal information, notes or connected data to train any generalized AI or ML model. It also does not sell data or show third-party ads. Our guide on how to train AI on your own content covers the details.

Mem also encrypts data at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS, but not end to end, because it must process your notes. It is SOC 2 Type II compliant, and notes export as Markdown. Our guide to which AI tools train on your data compares other tools.

Who Runs Mem

Mem Labs, Inc. makes Mem. The company was founded in 2021 by Kevin Moody and Dennis Xu, according to tool directories.

Mem vs Notion AI and Gemini Notebook

Notion AI answers from a whole team workspace and needs Business at $20 per member, as our Notion AI review covers. Google’s Gemini Notebook, formerly NotebookLM, is free and answers from sources you upload, as our NotebookLM review explains.

Mem’s distinct offer, therefore, is the agent that tracks tasks from personal notes. For document summaries alone, however, our list of the best AI for summarization covers cheaper options.

Who Should Use Mem

Overall, Mem suits founders, consultants and managers who capture many notes and meetings and want reminders of what is still open. It also suits people who want clear no-training terms for personal notes.

By contrast, it suits heavy writers and teams less, given the monthly caps and the lack of team plans on its pricing page. Our Claude vs Notion AI comparison covers team options, and our Perplexity vs NotebookLM page covers research notebooks.

How We Research

This Mem review takes plans from Mem’s pricing page and data rules from its privacy policy, both read on October 2, 2026. The price history comes from a pricing tracker, marked where used.

We found no independent quality evaluation, so two criteria rest on missing evidence. Our about page explains the criteria, and our comparison of free and paid AI tools covers free plans.

Clear data terms, shifting prices

Mem organizes notes, answers from them, and tracks open tasks with its agent, and its policy rules out training general models on your notes. Against that, every plan caps usage, Pro costs $29 for 100 messages, pricing changed three times in 2026, and no model is named.

3.2

The Verdict

Mem has a clear idea: capture everything, and let an agent remind you what is still open. Its data terms, moreover, are stronger than most note apps with AI.

The rest of this Mem review holds the score at 3.2. Caps apply on every plan, prices keep changing, and models are unnamed. So start on the free plan and move up only when you hit a limit.
