Notion AI Review (2026): AI on Your Own Workspace, From $20 a Member

Disclosure: LabFin is reader-supported. If you sign up for a tool through links on this page, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions vary between providers and our ratings do not — here’s our full disclosure.

This Notion AI review starts with where the AI lives. Notion AI is not a separate app. Instead, it is a set of features inside your Notion workspace: an agent, meeting notes and search across your pages and connected tools. Full access, however, comes with the Business plan at $20 per member a month, billed yearly. For more, our page on ChatGPT vs Notion AI covers a general assistant against AI inside your team’s workspace.

Its data terms are also strict. By default, Notion and its AI providers do not train on your content, and those providers keep data for 30 days or less. The catch is price for individuals, plus a 2025 lesson in how agents can be tricked.

Notion AI Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?

For teams that already run on Notion, often yes. The AI works on your own pages and databases; as a result, it can draft, summarize and answer from context a general chatbot never sees. Business also bundles meeting notes and enterprise search into the same seat price.

For individuals who just want an AI writer, the case is weaker. Free and Plus get only a trial, so full AI means paying for Business seats, too. In that case, a $20 general assistant covers more ground for one person, as our guide to ChatGPT for productivity shows.

What Notion AI Costs

Notion’s pricing page lists four plans, read on October 2, 2026. Paying yearly saves up to 20%, so monthly billing costs more. For example, guides put Business at $24 a member on monthly billing.

Free$0Trial of Notion AI
Plus$10 a monthTrial of Notion AI
Business$20 a monthNotion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search (beta)

Custom AgentsFree to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly creditsBusiness and Enterprise only
From notion.com/pricing and Notion’s AI security page, read October 2, 2026. Credit limits to Business and Enterprise come from guides citing Notion’s help center.

Custom Agents, which run tasks on their own, started using credits on May 4, 2026, guides report. Credits also reset monthly and do not roll over. Meanwhile, students and educators get Plus free for one member. However, that still includes only the AI trial.

What Notion AI Does

Notion Agent chats, generates, translates and fills in database fields inside your pages, according to Notion’s plan table. As an agent, it can also update databases and handle multi-step tasks, which is where it differs most from a chat window. AI Meeting Notes, meanwhile, records and summarizes meetings into a page.

Enterprise Search, in beta, answers questions across your workspace and connected apps, guides report. Custom Agents and the newer Workers, meanwhile, run multi-step jobs on their own and draw on credits. Our list of the best AI for productivity compares Notion with other workspace tools.

Which Models Power Notion AI

First, Notion says it continuously evaluates AI providers and models. Reviewers report access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Google models on Business. In addition, a September 2025 security demo showed Notion’s agent running Claude Sonnet 4. Our list of Notion AI alternatives also covers what you give up.

However, Notion’s pricing page does not list models by plan, so the exact models may change without notice. If a specific model matters to you, check the model menu in your workspace.

What Independent Evaluations Show

For this Notion AI review, we found no independent benchmark that scores Notion AI’s own output. Instead, its quality depends mostly on the underlying model and on how well your workspace is organized.

⚠️ Without an outside score, our Output Quality and Accuracy ratings stay conservative. For example, answers drawn from your own pages can still be wrong or outdated, so check them, as our guide to fact-checking AI output explains.

Your Data and Notion’s AI Providers

On data, however, Notion’s AI security page is clear. By default, Notion and its AI subprocessors do not use customer data to train any models, and contracts with those providers prohibit it. Using Notion AI also grants Notion no license to train on your data.

For workspaces below Enterprise, in addition, AI providers keep data for 30 days or less before deletion. Enterprise workspaces get zero data retention with providers, and Notion says its AI supports HIPAA compliance through zero-retention APIs. External Agents, however, follow different retention rules.

Security Record

In September 2025, a day after Notion 3.0 launched its agents, CodeIntegrity found a serious flaw. Hidden text in a PDF could trick an agent into sending workspace data to an outside server through its web search tool. Simon Willison and The Decoder covered the finding.

In response, Notion upgraded its prompt-injection detection, and admins can now turn off agents’ web access, The Decoder reported. ⚠️ Still, the lesson applies to every agent, though: if you let it read untrusted files and reach the web, restrict what it can send out.

Who Runs Notion

Notion Labs, Inc. is a private San Francisco company founded in 2013 by Ivan Zhao, its CEO, and Simon Last. It reached a $10 billion valuation in a 2021 funding round. In January 2026, a share sale reportedly valued it at about $11 billion.

Notion AI vs a General AI Assistant

On one hand, a general assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude costs $20 a month and covers research, coding and writing in one place. Moreover, projects in both hold files and instructions, as our ChatGPT review and Claude review describe.

Notion AI, by contrast, wins when the knowledge already lives in Notion. It answers from your pages and databases without copying them into another tool, and its data terms are stricter than most consumer chat plans. Our list of the best AI for summarization compares the long-document options, and our list of the best AI for research covers sourced answers. Teams that plan work in ClickUp, by contrast, can weigh its AI add-on in our ClickUp AI review.

Who Should Use Notion AI

Overall, Notion AI suits teams that keep their docs, wikis and projects in Notion and want AI on that material. It also suits companies that need strict data terms, especially on Enterprise.

By contrast, it suits individuals who do not use Notion less. Likewise, it suits anyone who wants full AI on a free or Plus plan less. Students, for instance, may do better with the tools in our list of the best AI for students.

How We Research

This Notion AI review takes plans from notion.com/pricing and data rules from Notion’s AI security and privacy page, read on October 2, 2026. Guides fill in monthly prices and credit details, marked where used.

Security findings come from CodeIntegrity’s report as covered by Simon Willison and The Decoder. We found no independent quality evaluation, so two criteria rest on the absence of evidence. Our about page explains the criteria. Our breakdown of AI tool costs compares yearly prices. Also, our list of the best AI tools for writers covers how tools treat your drafts.

Notion AI Review FAQ

How much does Notion AI cost in 2026?

Full Notion AI comes with the Business plan at $20 per member a month, billed yearly. Free and Plus get a trial only, and Custom Agents cost $10 per 1,000 monthly credits after a free trial.

Is Notion AI free?

Only as a trial. Free and Plus workspaces get a limited trial of Notion AI; ongoing access to Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search needs Business.

Does Notion AI train on my data?

No, by default. Notion’s AI security page says Notion and its AI providers do not train on customer data. Providers keep data for 30 days or less, or none on Enterprise.

Which AI models does Notion use?

Notion does not list them by plan. Reviewers report OpenAI, Anthropic and Google models on Business, and a 2025 security demo showed its agent running Claude Sonnet 4.

Is Notion AI safe for confidential work?

Its data terms are strong, but agents can be steered by hidden text in files. Admins can turn off agents’ web access, which limits that risk.

Strong data terms, AI on your own pages

Notion AI works on your own pages and databases, bundles meeting notes and search into the Business seat, and keeps strict data terms with no training by default. Against that, full AI starts at $20 a member and Custom Agents add credits. No independent evaluation scores its output, and its agents showed a prompt-injection risk in 2025.

3.3

The Verdict

Notion AI is at its best as AI for a team’s own knowledge. It drafts and answers from your workspace, and its data terms beat most consumer chat plans.

The rest of this Notion AI review holds the score at 3.3. Full AI requires Business seats, agents add credits, and its output has no independent check. If your team lives in Notion, try Business; if not, start with a general assistant.
