Of the tools on this list, the best AI for blogging covers the most of the workflow on one plan. We count three stages: research with citations, drafting and live SEO data. On that measure, ChatGPT and Claude each cover all three stages on their $20 plans, and Gemini, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot cover two.
We compare each tool’s plan at roughly $20 a month, because that is where all five offer their core features. The sections below explain the order, then show what each plan does at each stage and what it costs.
Best AI for Blogging: The Short Answer
Among the best AI for blogging on this list, ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro do the whole job. Both run cited research, both offer a drafting environment, and both connect to Semrush through an official app. Still, ChatGPT ranks first only on our tie-break, its cheaper entry price.
The others, however, fit narrower blogs. Gemini suits long posts and Google users, Perplexity suits sourced research, and Microsoft Copilot suits bloggers who draft in Word. None of the three has an official SEO data app documented in the sources behind our reviews, except a reported Semrush listing on Perplexity.

How We Ordered the Best AI for Blogging
This list of the best AI for blogging counts three stages on each tool’s roughly $20 plan. For example, research means a mode that returns cited reports. Drafting means an editor, an in-document assistant or a long-context workspace, and SEO data means an official Semrush or Ahrefs app. Also, a tool earns a stage only if its own documents or the tool maker’s partner announce it.
Ties follow the same rules as our main list of the best AI tools: our review score first, then the lower paid entry price. As a result, ChatGPT sits above Claude, and Gemini above Perplexity. For pure writing quality, our list of the best AI for writing uses a different measure, Arena’s creative-writing board.
1. ChatGPT: All Three Stages, the Widest Toolset
ChatGPT Plus costs $20 a month. Deep research returns cited reports you can download as Word or PDF, and the full-screen writing editor handles long drafts. Semrush’s official app, launched in December 2025, also brings keyword and traffic data into the chat.
The catch: Plus is monthly only, and drafts train OpenAI’s models until you opt out. Our guide to ChatGPT for SEO covers the SEO side in detail, and our ChatGPT review covers the plans.
2. Claude: All Three Stages, the Top Creative-Writing Model
Claude Pro costs $20 a month or $200 a year. Research, available on paid plans, runs multi-step web searches and returns answers with citations, according to Anthropic’s help article. Semrush also launched an official connector for Claude on August 26, 2026.
In addition, Claude’s Opus 5.5 placed first on Arena’s creative-writing board of September 25, 2026, on 487 votes. The catch: usage runs on five-hour sessions and weekly caps without published numbers, and drafts stay for five years if training is on. Details are in our Claude review.
3. Gemini: Long Posts and Google Users
Google AI Pro costs $19.99 a month with 5 TB of storage and a 1M-token context window. Deep Research is also included across Gemini plans. However, Gmail and Drive access in Gemini requires Keep Activity, which leaves training and possible human review on.
The catch: we found no official SEO data app for Gemini in the sources behind our reviews. Details are in our Gemini review.

4. Perplexity: Research for Sourced Posts
Perplexity Pro costs $20 a month or $200 a year, puts citations on every answer and shows no ads. In a Tow Center study of March 2025, it had the lowest error rate of eight AI search tools, at 37%. Semrush’s MCP server is listed inside Perplexity, according to a Growth Method guide, though we did not find that on Perplexity’s own pages.
The catch: Perplexity has no drafting editor documented, so long drafts happen elsewhere. Details are in our Perplexity review.
5. Microsoft Copilot: Drafting in Word
For $19.99 a month, Microsoft 365 Premium adds Researcher, an agent that returns cited reports, plus Copilot inside Word. Microsoft retired Deep Research in the consumer Copilot app on August 18, 2026, and Personal and Family plans do not get Researcher.
The catch: we found no official SEO data app for consumer Copilot, and the free app shows ads. Details are in our Microsoft Copilot review.
Which Tool for Which Blogging Stage
In the end, the best AI for blogging on this list depends on where your time goes. Research: Perplexity for quick sourced facts, or ChatGPT and Claude for long cited reports; our guide to ChatGPT for research covers checking them. Drafting: Claude for voice, ChatGPT for its editor, Gemini for long posts, Copilot for Word. SEO data: ChatGPT or Claude with the Semrush app. Featured images: ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity Pro list image generation on their plan pages.
Before You Publish
Above all, nearly every consumer plan on this list can use your drafts for training by default. Switch it off before pasting unpublished posts. Google’s guidance warns that mass-produced pages without added value can break its spam policies, so publish fewer, reviewed posts.
Also check every statistic against a primary source. Keyword volumes, for example, should come from the SEO tool’s data, not from the model’s memory.

How We Research
This list draws on each company’s pricing and help pages, Semrush’s announcements and our individual reviews, read on October 1, 2026. Creative-writing and accuracy figures come from Arena and the Tow Center, each dated where used.
We run no blogging tests of our own and show no sample posts, since those would age with every model update. The criteria live on our about page.
Best AI for Blogging FAQ
Of the tools on this list, ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro cover the whole workflow: cited research, drafting and Semrush data. ChatGPT ranks first only on our tie-break.
Through official apps. Semrush has an app in ChatGPT and a connector in Claude, and both need a Semrush subscription.
Of the tools on this list, Perplexity for quick sourced answers, and ChatGPT or Claude for long cited reports. Check every citation either way.
Not for using AI. Google warns that generating many pages without added value may violate its scaled content abuse policy.
No. Microsoft retired it in the consumer Copilot app on August 18, 2026. Instead, Researcher replaces it on Microsoft 365 Premium and Pro.
The Verdict
Among the tools on this list, ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro are the best AI for blogging. Each covers research, drafting and SEO data for $20 a month. Pick ChatGPT for its editor and wider toolset, or Claude for voice and annual billing.
Pick Gemini, Perplexity or Copilot when one stage dominates your blog. Whichever you choose, switch off training on drafts and verify every number before you publish.
