This Copy.ai review starts with what Copy.ai has become. Since October 2025 it has belonged to Fullcast, a revenue-operations software company. Its focus has also moved from copywriting to sales and marketing workflows. For writers, the entry point is the Chat plan: $29 a month for five seats, with models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google. For more, our page on Jasper vs Copy.ai covers two specialist writing tools on price, models and data terms.

Two caveats shape our score. Copy.ai has ended its free plan, according to its help center as pricing guides quote it. In addition, we could not confirm from Copy.ai’s own documents whether it trains on your content, because third-party readings of its policy conflict.

Copy.ai Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?

For a small team that wants shared, multi-model chat, often yes. At $29 a month for five seats, Chat costs less per person than any business plan from ChatGPT or Claude. It also lets each writer choose between OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models.

For confidential work or a solo budget, wait. Until Copy.ai’s own terms on training are clear, keep client material out of it. Meanwhile, a solo writer pays less for a $20 assistant, and Copy.ai no longer offers a free tier to test first.

What Copy.ai Costs

Copy.ai’s help center lists two self-serve plans, and its pricing page adds Enterprise at custom prices. Several readings of the pricing page in mid-2026 also show larger tiers from $1,000 to $3,000 a month. Check the page before you buy.

⚠️ Copy.ai has sunset its free plan, and new users must buy Chat or Agents, its help center says, as quoted by several pricing guides. Many older articles still promise 2,000 free words a month, but that offer has ended. Our comparison of free and paid AI tools lists assistants that still have free plans.

The gap above Chat is steep, however. Workflow automation starts at $249 a month on Agents, and the reported team tiers start at $1,000. For most writers, then, Chat is the realistic plan.

What five seats cost per month on Copy.ai Chat, ChatGPT Business, Claude Team and Jasper Pro

What Copy.ai Does

Chat is the core for writers. Each seat gets unlimited words and projects, and you pick the model for each conversation from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google. Brand Voice and Infobase store your style and company facts, according to Capterra’s plan listing, so drafts start from the same brief. Our list of the best AI tools for brand voice also covers prices and data terms.

Above Chat, Copy.ai runs automated workflows for sales and marketing teams. They consume workflow credits, and the Agents plan adds Content Agent Studio to train content agents for your team. Fullcast, meanwhile, is folding these features into its revenue platform as Fullcast Propel, powered by Copy.ai.

Which Models Power Copy.ai

Unlike Jasper, Copy.ai names its providers: OpenAI, Anthropic and Google’s Gemini. As a result, you can judge the underlying models on independent boards. Our list of the best AI for writing does exactly that with Arena’s creative-writing board.

However, the help center does not say which model versions each plan includes. If a specific model matters to you, check the model menu during setup.

What Independent Evaluations Show

For this Copy.ai review, we found no independent benchmark or study that scores Copy.ai’s own output or workflows. Its quality therefore depends mostly on the model you choose, plus your Brand Voice and Infobase setup.

⚠️ Without an outside score, our Output Quality and Accuracy ratings stay conservative. Check facts before you publish, as our guide to fact-checking AI output explains.

Your Content and Copy.ai’s Models

We could not read Copy.ai’s privacy notice and terms directly, and third-party readings disagree. ConductAtlas, a policy tracker, reports a clause that lets Copy.ai train its models on your content unless you opt out by emailing privacy@copy.ai. Zoftware, by contrast, reports a zero-retention policy with no training on inputs.

Two readings, from Zoftware and VerifyWise, do agree on one point: Copy.ai’s terms grant it a perpetual, irrevocable license to the content you upload. Business customers may also sign separate data terms.

⚠️ Until Copy.ai’s own documents settle the question, email privacy@copy.ai to opt out of training before you paste anything confidential. Also keep client material out of shared workflows.

Who Runs Copy.ai

Its founders launched Copy.ai in 2020, and it raised about $28 million from investors including Sequoia Capital, Craft Ventures and Wing, Dealroom reports. On October 15, 2025, Fullcast, a Salt Lake City company, announced the acquisition in a PR Newswire release. Copy.ai confirmed the deal on its own site.

Since then, Copy.ai’s help center has moved to Fullcast’s support site, and the old one closed on March 6, 2026. Fullcast had also bought Ebsta and Atrium, so Copy.ai is now one part of a larger sales platform.

Copy.ai vs a General AI Assistant

For a single writer, a general assistant usually costs less: ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro run $20 a month each. Both also hold projects with standing instructions, as our guides to ChatGPT for writing and Claude for writing show.

For a team of five, the math flips. Copy.ai Chat costs $29 in total, while ChatGPT Business and Claude Team Standard cost $125 a month for five seats, and Jasper Pro $345. Our breakdown of yearly AI tool costs covers those plans. Our Claude vs Copy.ai comparison covers which fits which job.

Who Should Use Copy.ai

Copy.ai suits small marketing and sales teams that want several models in one shared workspace for little money. It also suits teams already on Fullcast, or those ready to pay for workflow automation. Our Copy.ai vs Rytr comparison also splits the choice by team size.

It suits people who need a free plan less, along with anyone handling confidential material until the training terms are clear. For email and blog formats, compare our lists of the best AI for email writing and the best AI for blogging.

How We Research

This Copy.ai review takes plan details from Copy.ai’s help center pricing page, now hosted by Fullcast, and the acquisition from Copy.ai’s own announcement and PR Newswire. We read them on October 2, 2026.

Pricing-page readings, policy trackers and Capterra fill gaps, marked where used. We found no independent quality evaluation, so two of five criteria rest on the absence of evidence. Our about page explains the criteria, and our list of the best AI tools for writers compares how tools treat your work.

The Verdict

Copy.ai’s Chat plan is one of the cheapest ways to give a small team several frontier models in one shared workspace. Its larger plans, however, are now sales software more than a writing tool.

The rest of this Copy.ai review holds the score at 3.0. The free plan is gone, its own output has no independent check, and its training terms need confirming. Opt out by email first, then try Chat with non-confidential work.
