This Wordtune review covers AI21 Labs’ writing assistant, which suggests rewrites of a sentence or paragraph as you type, with controls for tone and length. Wordtune, for example, also summarizes documents and checks grammar.
Its free plan allows 10 rewrites a day, and paid plans cost about half as much on yearly billing. However, AI21’s terms let it train on what you type unless you have a separate written agreement.
Wordtune Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?
For people who want quick sentence-level rewrites in the browser, often yes. Advanced also costs $6.99 a month billed yearly, below Grammarly Pro at $12. Our list of the cheapest useful AI tools covers other low-cost plans.
For confidential writing or long drafts, other tools fit better. Our list of the best AI for writing ranks the main options.
What Wordtune Does
First, you select a sentence, and Wordtune offers several rewrites, plus options to shorten, expand or change tone. It also summarizes documents and fixes grammar and spelling, for example.
Paid plans, moreover, add paraphrasing, fluency and vocabulary suggestions. Our guide to using AI for editing shows where such tools fit.

What Wordtune Costs
In addition, Wordtune sells three self-serve plans and a Business plan, as trackers read its pricing page in July and August 2026.
| Plan | Price | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $0 | 10 rewrites a day; 3 summaries a month; unlimited grammar checks |
| Advanced | $13.99/mo, or $6.99 yearly | 30 rewrites a day; 15 summaries a month |
| Unlimited | $19.99/mo, or $9.99 yearly | No rewrite or summary caps |
| Business | By quote | SSO, admin controls, central billing |
Yearly billing roughly halves the monthly price, as our guide to annual vs monthly AI subscriptions explains. Note, however, that 30 rewrites a day on Advanced can run out in one long editing session.

Accuracy
However, we found no independent test of Wordtune’s rewrites. Rewrites, therefore, can shift meaning or flatten your voice, so read each one before accepting it.

Your Data
AI21’s terms say it may use inputs, outputs and other data to train its models unless you sign a separate written agreement that prohibits it, a policy analysis by ConductAtlas reports. You can email AI21 to request deletion.
Therefore, keep confidential text out of Wordtune on standard plans. Our guide to which AI tools train on your data compares other tools.
Who Runs Wordtune
AI21 Labs, an Israeli company founded in 2017, also launched Wordtune as its first product in October 2020. It also builds the Jamba language models. Our guide to who owns which AI tool covers other owners.
Wordtune vs Grammarly and QuillBot
Grammarly, for example, checks text across apps and lets individuals switch training off, as our Grammarly review covers. QuillBot, by contrast, focuses on paraphrasing with a 125-word free limit, as our QuillBot review explains.
General assistants such as Claude, however, rewrite whole drafts, as our guide to Claude for writing covers.
Who Should Use Wordtune
Overall, this Wordtune review finds it suits students, non-native English writers and professionals who want quick rewrites of single sentences. It also suits light users on the free plan. Our Grammarly vs Wordtune comparison also weighs price and data terms.
By contrast, however, it suits confidential work and long-form drafting less. Our list of the best AI tools for writers covers alternatives, and our list of the best AI for students covers study tools.
